The Yamas and Niyamas: Re-designing the good life

The Yamas and Niyamas: Re-designing the Good Life [5 hrs]
The moral issues facing the global community today are vast. I don’t want to keep my blinders on while rain forests disappear, species become extinct, and children starve. But I also don’t want to become overwhelmed, depressed, fatigued, or stop believing in beauty and the best that humanity has to offer. The question becomes how do we take yoga from our mats and use it as a tool for moral imagination and social healing?

In this workshop we will explore how a heartfelt conversation with the yamas and niyamas, the foundational building blocks of the yoga path, can be used to address our personal practice as well as our role in the well-being of the planet. Come explore with me how we can use these ten ethical guidelines to become people who make a difference.

When: Saturday, February 11, 2017
Time: 11:30AM-5:30PM
Cost: $60 (members receive 10% off)

Beliefs: Gateways or Traps to your Yoga Practice

Ever wonder what role your beliefs play in your yoga practice? Do they facilitate your practice or do they actually impair it? Beliefs are powerful because they hide in plain sight and get mistaken for reality. They can easily lay unseen and unexamined; yet they determine the very fabric of our intention and practice.

Come explore the nature of beliefs, where they come from, why we believe what we believe, the purpose of beliefs, and how to discern whether your beliefs are leading you towards your full potential or standing in the way.

When: Sunday, February 12, 2017
Time: 11:30AM-2PM
Cost: $30 (members receive 10% off)

The Mind: Where Entanglement & Freedom Meet [2.5 hrs]

Current research and studies confirm what the yogis have understood for centuries: the mind is the key to suffering and to freedom; it alone has the power to orientate in either direction. Left to ourselves, we become ensnared in habits, thoughts, and conditioning that lead us to unhappiness, even though none of us set out to suffer. Without some understanding of our minds, we can easily end up in despair, depression, and addiction.

Yoga offers a rich understanding of the mind and the practices that purify it. In this workshop, we will explore the crucial steps necessary to train the mind to be our friend and partner in setting a course away from suffering towards the joy and fulfillment we long for.

When: Sunday, February 12, 2017
Time: 3PM-5:30PM
Cost: $30 (members receive 10% off)
