ABSOLUTELY! IF YOU ARE NEWER TO YOGA, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU JOIN US AT ANY CLASS LABELED SIMPLE, GENTLE, LONG SLOW AND DEEP, OR REST AND RESTORE. YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT OUR CLASS OFFERINGS HERE.
WE SUGGEST WAITing UNTIL YOU FEEL SOLID IN OUR SIMPLE CLASSES BEFORE JOINING ANY CLASS WITH STRONG IN THE TITLE. YOGA EXPERIENCE IS RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE.
what style of yoga is offered at speakeasy?
at speakeasy we teach a few different styles of classes.
the main class we offer, simple or strong, is an athletically inclined flowing style of yoga, sometimes called power vinyasa. we like to remember that yoga postures aren’t a “one size fits all” type of thing, so we focus on the individuality of the students and functional range of motion. in addition, We take these classes and put an added emphasis on linking breath and movement for the ultimate meditative and empowering experience.
throughout each class at speakeasy, your teacher will provide you with the tools you need to keep your breath as consistent as it can be.
we offer both simple and strong styles in a heated and unheated environment so you can choose your preferred setting.
we also offer a handful of gentle classes each week, perfect for the yogi looking to move, but at a slower pace and gentler postures and transitions. as well as a little restorative, which allows your nervous system to take a rest, and some long slow and deep classes that offer a mixture of minimal movement, longer holds of deep stretching, and restorative.
what if I don’t like hot yoga?
no problem! classes at e 3rd st are hot (about 90-92 degrees) but our wayne location typically lingers around 75. So you have plenty of options!
I’ve suffered some injuries and am hesitant to do a group class, what should I do?
reach out to us to set up a private session! all of our teachers offer one-on-one sessions to make sure you learn what you need to do that’s right for your body whether at home or in the studio.
